German officials link Covid-19 to Wuhan lab leak
German intelligence officials now believe there is an 80 to 90 percent chance that Covid-19 leaked from a lab in Wuhan, China. This assessment comes from an investigation called Project Saaremaa, initiated in 2020. The investigation found evidence of safety violations at the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where experiments may have modified viruses to be more transmissible to humans. This information was shared with the CIA last year. Previously, U.S. officials, including the Biden administration, dismissed the lab-leak theory. However, recent reports indicate a shift, with multiple U.S. agencies now considering a lab origin more likely than a natural one.
