German coalition secures Deutschlandticket, strengthens rail and roads

A new coalition government plans to continue the Deutschlandticket for public transport beyond 2025, gradually increasing user funding starting in 2029. It also aims to reform Deutsche Bahn, separating its infrastructure division and increasing investments in the rail network. The government intends to allocate funds to address infrastructure issues, particularly for bridges and tunnels, using special infrastructure assets. Additionally, they plan to reduce air travel taxes and abolish the requirement for synthetic fuels, aiming for fairer competition. The coalition will support regional airports regarding air traffic control costs. They also plan to use half of the national income from European emissions trading for airlines to promote sustainable aviation fuels.
