Geraldine Faith Econg appointed as new presiding judge of Sandiganbayan in Philippines

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has appointed Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg as the new Presiding Judge of the Sandiganbayan, effective January 7. She replaces Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, who retired in November 2024. Econg has been an associate justice of the Sandiganbayan since 2016 and has previously served as a presiding judge in Cebu City. Her term as presiding judge will last until her retirement on August 6, 2037. The Sandiganbayan is the Philippines' special court that handles cases related to graft and corruption involving government officials.
