Gen Z prefers starters over main meals when dining
A recent poll shows that a majority of Gen Z adults prefer to eat multiple starters instead of a main meal when dining out. About 75% of people aged 18 to 28 favor this trend. They enjoy trying different flavors and dislike choosing just one dish. The survey found that over half of these young adults, around 53%, like the variety. Some say they want to avoid food envy or are tired of picking between their favorites. This generation also identifies as 'bothists,' with 72% embracing the idea of enjoying multiple options at once, compared to just 54% of older adults. The study surveyed 2,000 adults and was done to celebrate the new Cadbury Dairy Milk Biscoff bar. It reveals that many young people want to enjoy a mix of experiences in their lives, from holiday plans to snacks. Many participants—about 41%—feel exhausted by having to choose. Embracing this 'bothist' mentality, 31% believe it makes them more open-minded and well-rounded. Most think it enhances their self-care by reducing the stress of selection. The research also indicates that young adults often engage in two activities at the same time. For instance, 42% watch TV while on social media. Furthermore, 25% listen to audiobooks while reading physical books. Cadbury has partnered with comedian Henry Rowley to promote this lifestyle. They encourage fans to share their favorite combinations on social media. Connor Gould from Cadbury stated that many people want the "best of both worlds," and the new bar reflects this desire by combining smooth chocolate with crunchy Biscoff.
