FX orders pilot for "Snowfall" spinoff series

A new spinoff from the series "Snowfall" has been greenlit by FX. This exciting development means that a pilot episode is now in the works. The spinoff was announced after the original "Snowfall" series came to an end in 2023. The spinoff will feature Gail Bean reprising her role as Wanda Bell-Simmons. Isaiah John will also return as Leon Simmons from the original cast. Set in 1990s Los Angeles, the story will follow Bean's character as she tries to bring West Coast rap into the mainstream while facing challenges from a gang war. Malcolm Spellman will write and executive produce the pilot. Other producers include former "Snowfall" team members like Dave Andron and Thomas Schlamme. FX Productions will handle the studio work for the show. "Snowfall" first premiered in 2017 and became popular for exploring the crack cocaine crisis in South Central LA. The series ran for six seasons and ended in 2023.
