Fruits show promise as natural antibiotics, cancer fighters, Germany
Research presented in Germany during "FAPESP" week highlights the potential of some fruits as natural alternatives to antibiotics and cancer treatments. The research emphasized plant compounds found in fruits like papaya and passion fruit. Scientists found that medicinal plants contain compounds like flavonoids and alkaloids. These may boost immunity and fight bacterial infections. Studies suggest that modified pectin, extracted from papaya, passion fruit, and citrus fiber, could aid colon cancer treatment and regulate gut bacteria. The pectin is extracted from the white layer between the peel and pulp of the fruits.
