French companies paid out the highest dividends in Europe during the second quarter of 2026, ranking second globally behind the United States, according to asset manager Janus Henderson. Listed French firms distributed $70.4 billion to shareholders between April and June, ahead of Germany ($51.3 billion), Italy ($17.5 billion), and Spain ($13.2 billion). The total was boosted by a special $4.2 billion payout from Bolloré SE and higher Sanofi dividends. Global dividends rose 7.3% to $757.8 billion, with the financial sector leading at $239.7 billion. Share buybacks surged 26.8% to $572 billion, driven heavily by technology companies worldwide.
