Fraport Greece upgrades eight regional airports' runways
Fraport Greece is commencing the fourth phase of runway renovation and reconstruction at eight regional airports, causing temporary closures. These airports include Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Corfu, Samos, Rhodes, Mytilene, Mykonos, and Santorini. The runway closures will occur at different times for each airport, starting in November 2025 and extending into January and March 2026. The work aims to enhance runway safety, involving modifications to safety zones. Emergency flights will be permitted via helicopter during the closures. The project is part of a broader plan to upgrade the safety and operations of Fraport Greece's regional airports, funded by the Recovery and Resilience Fund. The company states the closures are necessary for the project's scope.
