Four students hospitalized after consuming cannabis gummies
Four students from a charter school in Mercer County were hospitalized on Monday after consuming suspected cannabis gummies. The incident took place at STEMCivics’ high school campus in Ewing, shortly before 9 a.m., according to local police. The school's founder, Leigh Byron, stated that the parents of the students have confirmed that they are now safe and back home. Byron mentioned that the student who provided the gummies has been identified and faced disciplinary actions. Ewing police are investigating the incident and have referred the matter to child protective authorities. In related news, STEMCivics' charter was revoked by the state Department of Education in January due to non-compliance with state laws. The school has until June 30 to address this. STEMCivics operates two campuses: the Ewing campus, called PURPLEfect Palace, and a middle school in downtown Trenton named PURPLEfect Parc.
