Fortnite OG player count hits record low globally

Fortnite OG, a popular mode within the game, has reached an all-time low in player count. Only 16 players were active worldwide just before the launch of Season 3. This is a significant drop from its peak, when over 44 million players joined during a temporary season in November 2023. Fortnite OG was originally launched as a permanent mode on December 6, 2024. It attracted a huge following, with 1.1 million players within the first two hours. However, the excitement seems to have faded. The mode has now become the 51st most popular in Fortnite, falling behind several other modes and creative maps. Several factors may have contributed to the decline. Players have noted issues with matches being filled with bots instead of real opponents. Some lobbies reportedly had as many as 90 bots, despite efforts by Epic Games to reduce this number. Other players suggested that constant availability of the mode has diminished the sense of urgency and excitement. Despite these challenges, non-ranked Fortnite OG has also seen a decrease in players. The peak count dropped from over a million at launch to just over 82,000 by March 23. This represents a decline of about 53.8% in just a month. As Season 3 is set to launch on March 25, 2025, it aims to revive player interest with nostalgic content, including old weapons and classic skins. Fans are hopeful that these changes will bring back the excitement that made Fortnite OG so popular at launch.
