Former NFL player and coach Tommy Hart dies at 80
Tommy Hart, a former NFL player, coach, and scout, has died at the age of 80, according to the San Francisco 49ers. Hart was drafted by the 49ers in 1968 and played ten seasons with the team. During his career, Hart played in 177 games, recording 83 sacks and earning Pro Bowl honors in 1977. He was part of the 49ers' defensive line known as "The Gold Rush" and received multiple awards for his performance. After retiring, Hart returned to the 49ers as an assistant coach and contributed to three Super Bowl victories. He also worked as a scout for the team and later coached with the Dallas Cowboys.
