Former attorney claims $590K owed after firing
A former attorney at Frank Azar & Associates claims he is owed $590,000 in commissions and bonuses after being fired in March 2023. Sean McCrary, who now runs his own law firm, was the head of the mass torts practice at Azar’s firm. In a lawsuit filed on March 17, McCrary alleges that he and Frank Azar made a verbal agreement in 2019. Instead of a salary, McCrary was to be paid commissions from cases and an annual bonus. He was involved in several high-profile lawsuits, including those related to defective medical devices. McCrary claims he settled most of the cases, which involved hundreds of clients, before his termination but has not received any payments for his work. The lawsuit does not explain the reasons for his firing. In February, McCrary's lawyer sent a letter to Azar demanding the unpaid commissions. After receiving no response, McCrary decided to take legal action against the firm for the claimed amount. Neither Frank Azar nor Sean McCrary responded to requests for comment. McCrary’s legal representation includes Brian Moore, who has previously represented other former employees of Azar’s firm.
