Five convicted in mistaken identity murders of Mason Rist and Max Dixon
Mason Rist and Max Dixon were murdered in a case of mistaken identity on January 27. Five individuals, including four teenagers, were convicted of their murders. Two teenagers received minimum sentences of 23 years, while two others were sentenced to life with minimum terms of 15 and 18 years. The attack, lasting just 33 seconds, was captured on CCTV. The victims were targeted after being wrongly blamed for an earlier incident involving bricks. The court heard about a long-standing rivalry between their neighborhoods, which fueled the violence. During sentencing, Mason's sister Chloe Rist emotionally confronted the defendants, holding her brother's ashes. The court proceedings were marked by the family's dignity, despite the distressing nature of the case and the behavior of the defendants.
