Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost successfully landed on the Moon
Firefly Aerospace's Blue Ghost Mission 1 successfully landed on the Moon early Sunday, marking the second private lunar landing and the first to land upright. The spacecraft touched down near Mons Latreille, delivering 10 NASA scientific instruments. The mission, part of a NASA partnership, aims to support future lunar exploration. Blue Ghost is designed to operate for a lunar day and will capture high-definition images of lunar events, including a total eclipse on March 14. Intuitive Machines' IM-2 mission is set to follow on March 6, featuring a new lander called Athena. This mission aims to improve upon previous private landings and includes advanced payloads like rovers and a unique hopping drone.
