Firefly Aerospace successfully lands Blue Ghost on moon

Firefly Aerospace successfully landed its Blue Ghost spacecraft on the moon, becoming the second U.S. company to achieve this milestone. The landing occurred at 3:35 AM Eastern time near Mare Crisium, carrying 10 scientific payloads. The Blue Ghost, about the size of a compact car, descended gently at two miles per hour. Flight controllers confirmed the landing during a live stream, marking a significant achievement in the ongoing global moon race. Previously, Houston-based Intuitive Machines' Odysseus lander made a soft landing last year. Firefly's mission follows a series of successful landings by five nations, including the U.S., China, and India.
