Fire displaces two residents in Evanston home blaze

A fire broke out early Sunday morning in a single-family home on Warren Street in Evanston. Firefighters arrived at about 2:45 a.m. to find heavy smoke and flames at the rear of the house. The two residents escaped safely but were taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze to a bedroom, limiting damage to the property. The fire caused extensive heat and smoke damage, displacing the residents. Two firefighters sustained minor injuries but continued to work at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
