Finance department faces backlog of over 26000 pending files
The finance department is facing a backlog of 26,257 pending files as of October 10, 2024. This issue stems from a lack of decision-making within various departments, which often refer routine matters to finance for approval, complicating the process. Frequent changes in finance secretaries have also hindered progress. Since the current government took office, five secretaries have held the position, leading to instability and difficulty in managing the backlog effectively. Despite the implementation of an e-office system intended to streamline processes, the ongoing reluctance to make decisions has limited its effectiveness. The backlog raises concerns about governance and financial management across the state's 42 departments.
