Film "Despatch" examines toxic masculinity through flawed journalist character
**New Delhi:** The film "Despatch," directed by Kanu Behl, explores the complexities of toxic masculinity through the character Joy Bag, played by Manoj Bajpayee. The story is inspired by the real-life murder of journalist Jyotirmoy Dey. The film presents Joy as a deeply flawed man, struggling with self-loathing and misogyny. Unlike typical portrayals of journalists, "Despatch" focuses on Joy's personal issues rather than his professional ethics, depicting a grim view of the media world. While the film features female characters, they are largely defined by their relationships with Joy. The narrative emphasizes his emotional struggles, leaving little room for the women's perspectives. "Despatch" is now available for streaming on Zee 5.
