Federal Retirees urge Canada to prioritize seniors’ issues

As Canadians prepare to vote in the upcoming federal election, the National Association of Federal Retirees is urging political parties to focus on issues that affect aging citizens. They have identified three important areas that need attention: improving retirement income security, enhancing the health care system, and increasing support for veterans. The organization highlights that Canada’s population aged 65 and older is expected to reach 11 million in the next twenty years. This growth emphasizes the need for immediate investments that will benefit both current seniors and those nearing retirement. Anthony Pizzino, the CEO of Federal Retirees, notes the urgency of these issues, especially in light of economic challenges like rising living costs. These challenges particularly impact older Canadians who often live on fixed incomes. The association encourages all Canadians to question political candidates about their plans to support seniors and promote a positive aging experience. They aim to ensure that seniors' needs are addressed in political platforms leading up to the election. The National Association of Federal Retirees represents over 170,000 members, including active and retired members of the federal public service, military veterans, and their families. They have been advocating for improved financial security, health, and well-being for Canadians since 1963.
