Father of expelled Philippine lawmaker Arnolfo Teves Jr. dies at 77

Arnolfo Teves Sr., the father of expelled Negros Oriental Rep. Arnolfo Teves Jr., passed away on December 24 at the age of 77. His son, Henry Teves, announced the news on social media but did not reveal the cause of death. Rep. Teves Jr. is currently overseas and unable to attend his father's wake. His lawyer expressed that the timing of the death, on Christmas Eve, adds to the family's sadness during what should be a festive time. Teves Jr. faces murder charges related to the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo in March 2023. The Department of Justice indicated he may return to the Philippines soon to address these charges.
