Fan analysis confirms water type criticism in Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire
A Pokémon fan has analyzed the "too much water" criticism from IGN's 2014 review of Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. The analysis confirms that the remakes feature a higher percentage of Water Type Pokémon and increased encounter rates compared to the originals. The study shows that 43.9% of trainers in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have at least one Water Type, up from 38.4% in the original games. Additionally, early game routes have higher encounter rates for Water Type Pokémon, such as Wingull and Marill. Regarding the game's surfing and diving sequences, the analysis indicates that while the number of HMs is higher in the remakes, the water routes are smaller and allow for faster travel. This suggests some improvements, although opinions on their tedium remain subjective.
