Family suffers burns from e-rickshaw battery explosion

A family in Vijay Nagar suffered serious burns after their e-rickshaw battery exploded while charging at home. The accident happened around 6:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Bobby Kumar Pal, his wife Baby, and their two young children were at home when the explosion occurred. Reports indicate that all four family members sustained 40-45% burns. They were taken to MMG District Hospital for emergency treatment. Doctors at the hospital described their conditions as critical and decided to refer the family to a specialized facility in Delhi for more intensive care. Neighbors heard the loud explosion and rushed to help. One neighbor, Makkhan Singh, said they returned from a trip to Varanasi just the day before. Another neighbor, Rekha Singh, reported that the explosion shook her and made her fall to the ground. She saw Baby running out, while Bobby and the children were still inside when the ambulance arrived.
