Family identifies remains of Shiri Bibas as Israel claims she was murdered in Hamas captivity
The family of Shiri Bibas confirmed her remains were identified after being returned from Hamas. Israeli officials stated she was murdered in captivity, along with her two young sons, Ariel and Kfir, in November 2023. Hamas had previously handed over unidentified remains, which Israel later said were not Bibas. The Israel Defense Forces condemned this as a serious violation of agreements between the two sides. Yarden Bibas, Shiri's husband, was also taken hostage but was released on February 1. Hamas is expected to release six living hostages as part of the ongoing ceasefire deal.
