Fake attorney arrested in Upland for impersonation, theft
A man posing as an attorney was arrested in Upland after being exposed as a fake in a Riverside courtroom and fleeing the scene. He is suspected of impersonation, theft, and practicing law without a license. Erick Porras Rivera, 66, allegedly collected retainer fees while fraudulently representing himself as a licensed attorney. Authorities served a search warrant at his home, leading to his arrest on Thursday. The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is investigating the case and asks anyone with information to come forward. Rivera has not yet been charged, but could potentially represent himself if charged.
