FA to enforce stricter rules on away colors
The Football Association (FA) is planning to take stronger action against away fans wearing their team's colors in sections of home supporters. This decision follows a recent match at Wembley, where many Albanian fans were seen in areas designated for England supporters. During the match, England secured a 2-0 victory over Albania. However, the presence of Albanian fans caused concerns among English supporters, who expressed their frustration on social media. Some referred to the situation as a "takeover," noticing that numerous Albanian fans were in the home stands. To address this issue, the FA will now inform ticket buyers that they could be removed from the stadium if they wear opposing team colors in home areas. Although there were no major incidents during the game, the FA wants to prevent similar situations in the future. The FA worked closely with officials to allocate a large number of tickets to Albanian fans for the match. Fans only needed to provide proof of an English address to buy tickets for home sections. Despite selling out, tickets for Wembley are still relatively easy to obtain due to the stadium's large capacity. The security team was satisfied with how the situation was managed, believing that around 1,000 away fans obtained tickets in the home areas. The FA plans to send out warning emails for future matches to reinforce their rules. Fans had mixed reactions, with some suggesting the atmosphere could have changed if Albania had scored. No similar issues are anticipated for the upcoming match against Latvia.
