Experts urge stronger AI regulations to maintain human control at Paris summit
Experts are urging for stricter regulations on artificial intelligence (AI) to prevent it from becoming uncontrollable. This call comes as global leaders meet in Paris for a summit focused on AI, shifting from previous meetings that emphasized safety concerns. France, co-hosting the summit with India, aims to promote global governance for AI without imposing binding rules. The focus is on sustainability and opportunities rather than solely on risks, contrasting with earlier discussions in 2023 and 2024. A new platform, Global Risk and AI Safety Preparedness (GRASP), has been launched to identify AI-related risks and solutions. An International AI Safety Report has also been presented, highlighting various risks, including potential biological and cyber threats.
