Excel introduces new translation and language detection functions for users
Microsoft Excel has introduced two new functions, TRANSLATE and DETECTLANGUAGE, for users with Microsoft 365 subscriptions. These functions allow users to translate text between languages and identify the language of existing text in a workbook. The TRANSLATE function requires three arguments: the text to translate, the source language code, and the target language code. The DETECTLANGUAGE function only needs one argument, which is the text to analyze. Both functions are available in the Excel desktop app, web version, and mobile app. Examples show how to use TRANSLATE for translating text in cells and creating a drop-down list for language selection. The DETECTLANGUAGE function can identify languages in a spreadsheet, making it easier to manage multilingual data.
