Escudero questions Sara Duterte's warning about their father
Senate President Francis Escudero has responded to Vice President Sara Duterte's warning about her father's safety. She claimed that if former President Rodrigo Duterte returned to the Philippines, he could be in danger, similar to the fate of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Sr., who was assassinated in 1983. Escudero questioned the Vice President's statement during a press conference. He expressed confusion about how she could warn her father if she also said that he would not be able to return to the country. He stated, "I don’t want to comment on opposing opinions regarding that matter. I’ll just wait for it to happen." Rodrigo Duterte was arrested on March 11, 2025, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. His arrest was based on a warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC), accusing him of crimes against humanity linked to his controversial anti-drug campaign during his presidency. After his arrest, he was taken to The Hague in the Netherlands to face these charges.
