Erika Andreeva defeats sister Mirra in first professional match at Wuhan Open

Erika Andreeva defeated her younger sister Mirra in their first professional match at the Wuhan Open, winning 6-3, 6-1. This marks the first WTA main draw meeting between sisters since 2020. Erika, ranked 70th, will face Italian sixth seed Jasmine Paolini in the last 16. Mirra, the 16th seed and recently ranked in the top 20, had previously expressed concerns about competing against her sister. In other matches, top seed Aryna Sabalenka and world number four Coco Gauff advanced to the last 16 with straight-set victories. However, Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova was eliminated by Hailey Baptiste.
