Energy minister reports stable coal supply boosts electricity production in Rajasthan
Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar announced that coal supply for power plants in Rajasthan has stabilized, leading to increased electricity production. He highlighted a new testing process for coal quality that ensures payments are made only for compliant coal. Nagar criticized the previous Congress government for its management of the power sector, claiming it caused financial losses by forcing the state to buy coal at higher prices. He pointed to a lack of coordination with Chhattisgarh and environmental clearance issues. Despite improvements, Nagar noted ongoing challenges, such as high gas prices and underperforming power units. He also mentioned financial setbacks caused by the Congress government's withdrawal of funds and removal of late payment surcharges, which worsened liquidity issues.
