Elon Musk praises far-right AfD after historic election gains in Germany
Elon Musk congratulated the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party after it secured over 20% of the vote in recent federal elections, making it the main opposition party. This marks a historic shift, as it is the first time a hard-right party has held this position in post-war Germany. Musk predicted that the AfD could become the majority party by the next elections in 2029. He expressed his support for the party's growth and its potential to surpass the conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU). The CDU won the election with 28.6% of the vote, while the governing center-left SPD fell to third place with just 16%. AfD leader Alice Weidel called for an end to the political barrier against cooperation with her party, stating it is undemocratic to exclude millions of voters.
