Electric vehicles accounted for 63% of new car registrations in May, with overall car sales increasing by 2%. Of the new cars registered, 36.9% were fully electric, and 26.4% were plug-in hybrids. This marks a continued, albeit slow, rise in car sales. A total of 25,675 new passenger cars were registered in May, a 2% increase compared to the same month last year. Year-to-date, the increase is 6%, according to Mobility Sweden. Industry analysts note that while the proportion of electric vehicles is slightly below the 2025 forecast, plug-in hybrids are performing better than expected.
