Election officer injured, husband killed in Maguindanao ambush

An election officer in Maguindanao del Norte was injured in an ambush on Wednesday morning. Her husband was killed during the attack. This incident took place in Datu Odin Sinsuat town, as they were heading to the municipal election office. According to police reports, Bai Maceda Lidasan Abo, the municipal election officer, and her husband Jojo Abo were traveling in their family-owned SUV. The ambush occurred around 8:30 a.m. in Barangay Makir. They were quickly taken to a local hospital, but Jojo was pronounced dead before reaching a hospital in Cotabato City. The couple's son, James Abo, shared that his father had no enemies and was a good man. He confirmed his father's death to reporters. The local election supervisor, Mohammad Nabil Mutia, stated that the couple was attacked while on their way to the office.
