Eighth suspect arrested in Dublin stabbing case
An eighth man has been arrested in connection with the stabbing death of Quham Babatunde in Dublin. The man, in his 20s, was detained on Monday morning, March 24. He is being held at a Garda station in Dublin. The police continue to investigate the case. Quham Babatunde, a 34-year-old man from Nigeria, was injured on Anne Street South around 3 a.m. on February 15. He was found unresponsive and taken to St James's Hospital, where he later died. The incident followed a fight among people leaving a music event on Valentine's night. Seven other men have previously been arrested concerning this case and have appeared in court in Dublin and Belfast. Babatunde had been living at the Ballyogan accommodation centre in Dublin while seeking international protection. Gardaí are urging witnesses to come forward. They are especially interested in people who were in the South Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper area between 2:30 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. on February 15. They also ask for anyone with mobile phone or dash-cam footage from the Dawson Street and St. Stephen's Green area during that time to share it with the police. Anyone with information can contact Pearse Street Garda Station or the Garda Confidential Line.
