ECCO targets premium footwear market in India
Danish footwear company ECCO is expanding in India, focusing on the top 2.5% of the population with premium sneakers and golf shoes. The company plans to grow from six stores to 25 by the end of next year. ECCO aims to capitalize on the rising demand for premium footwear, driven by Gen-Z and a shift to casual wear. The company has seen a fivefold increase in consumer demand since entering India in 2019, despite initial setbacks from the pandemic. The brand is targeting metro and tier 1 cities, while also reaching tier 2 and 3 cities, which account for 35% of sales. ECCO is positioning itself as a leading premium brand in the golf footwear market, competing with established names like FootJoy and TaylorMade.
