easyJet pilot suspended after close call over mountains
An easyJet pilot has been stood down following an investigation into a close call during flight U2 2251 from Manchester to Hurghada on February 2, 2025. The aircraft reportedly flew too close to a mountain, triggering a warning system. The Airbus A320neo, carrying 190 people, descended to 2,900 feet before climbing back to 3,750 feet. This incident raised concerns as typical flights in that area maintain an altitude of around 6,000 feet. This is not the first low-altitude incident for easyJet. In February 2024, an investigation was launched into another flight that descended below the glide path while approaching Geneva Airport.
