East Forsyth baseball wins 5-4 against Glenn
The East Forsyth varsity baseball team achieved a dramatic win against crosstown rival Glenn, rallying to a 5-4 victory on Friday night. The Eagles scored three runs in the sixth inning to tie the game and clinched the winning run in the seventh. Glenn started strong in the first inning, scoring three runs, including a two-run homer by Logan Stump. However, East Forsyth began to chip away at the lead with a run in the third, thanks to a wild pitch that allowed Ashton Fields to score. Pitching played a key role in the game. East's Peyton Crews pitched four innings, keeping his team in the contest, while Brodie Lenhart secured the win by pitching the final three innings with impressive stats. Meanwhile, Stump gave a solid performance for Glenn, but his team could not maintain the lead. In the sixth inning, Glenn extended their lead to 4-1. But East Forsyth responded in the bottom of the inning, scoring three runs to tie the game. A key error by Glenn's defense allowed two runs to score, followed by a wild pitch that brought in the tying run. In the final inning, East Forsyth's Craig McGhee reached base on a walk. A sacrifice bunt advanced him, and a walk for Jordan Turner set the stage for Eben Greene's single, which completed the comeback. With this win, East Forsyth improved its overall record to 8-3 and remains undefeated in conference play at 4-0. They plan to host Parkland next on Tuesday. Glenn fell to 5-4 overall and will next play Reynolds on Tuesday evening.
