Duterte in ICC custody facing crimes against humanity
Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is now in custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. He was surrendered after arriving on a chartered flight from Manila and is being held in a detention center for suspects of crimes against humanity. Duterte's former executive secretary reported that he was taken to a hospital shortly after his arrival. The Philippine Embassy in The Hague is providing consular assistance, including medical checks and care packages, as Duterte prepares for his upcoming trial. Duterte faces charges related to his controversial drug war, which resulted in thousands of deaths. The ICC has stated that it will conduct an initial appearance hearing, but no date has been set yet.
