Duterte awaits trial at ICC detention center in The Hague

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is now in custody at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands, following his arrest for alleged crimes against humanity. He will be held in a facility designed for humane conditions while awaiting trial. The ICC detention center is not a traditional prison. It offers detainees a secure environment with amenities like a gym, communal areas, and access to computers for legal preparation. Detainees can also communicate privately with legal counsel and receive family visits. Duterte arrived in The Hague on a chartered flight and will remain at the ICC detention center until his initial court appearance. If convicted, he will serve any sentence in a prison outside the Netherlands.
