Duterte arrested for crimes against humanity charges
Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has been arrested and taken to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. He is the first former Asian leader to face charges at the ICC, accused of crimes against humanity related to his anti-drug policies. Duterte's arrival follows an ICC warrant issued for his arrest. The ICC is a court of last resort for serious international crimes, including genocide and war crimes, and relies on state cooperation for arrests. The ICC currently has 125 member states and has issued 60 arrest warrants since its establishment in 2002. Other notable figures with warrants include Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
