Duterte arrested by ICC for crimes against humanity
The International Criminal Court (ICC) has arrested former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte on charges of murder as a crime against humanity. This marks the first arrest of an Asian leader by the ICC. Duterte is accused of overseeing deadly anti-drug crackdowns during his presidency. He is being taken to the ICC's detention center in The Hague, where he will have access to various facilities. The ICC prosecutes serious international crimes when countries cannot or will not do so. It currently has 125 member states, but major powers like the U.S., Russia, and China are not members.
