Duterte appoints Medialdea as counsel for ICC proceedings
Former President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Salvador Medialdea as one of his counsels for his upcoming International Criminal Court (ICC) proceedings, where he faces charges of crimes against humanity. This appointment was made official in a handwritten document. Duterte has requested Medialdea's assistance during his initial appearance before the ICC's Pre-Trial Chamber. The ICC's Registrar confirmed the request and noted that Medialdea's role is conditional on his acceptance. Duterte arrived in The Hague on Tuesday and is currently held at the Scheveningen Prison. His first appearance at the ICC is scheduled for Friday.
