Dutch inventor turns vintage rotary phone into Bluetooth headset
A Dutch inventor has transformed a 1950s rotary phone into a Bluetooth headset. Jouke Waleson, who has owned the phone for 15 years, used an ESP32 microcontroller to enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Waleson documented the process on their blog, detailing the challenges faced while integrating modern technology with the vintage device. The headset successfully works with Google Meet, allowing clear audio during calls. The project also features Google Assistant integration, enabling users to check their calendar. Waleson plans to use the headset on their bedside table, providing a unique way to leave their smartphone behind at night.
