Dunham's Sports expands to New Mexico

A sporting goods chain will open a new store in New Mexico, taking over a location previously occupied by the bankrupt home goods retailer, Conn's HomePlus. Dunham's Sports, with 259 locations primarily in the Midwest, will replace Conn's HomePlus in the Santa Fe Place Mall by the end of 2025, creating a 60,000-square-foot store. The new location will be the company's first in New Mexico. Conn's HomePlus filed for bankruptcy in July 2024, citing declining sales and debt. This trend reflects a broader pattern of retail closures, including Big Lots and Forever 21, as companies adapt to changing consumer behavior.
