Dublin City Council advances plans for new €100 million library at Parnell Square

Dublin City Council has issued a tender for a new €100 million City Library at Parnell Square, marking progress after a decade of planning. The five-storey library will feature a conference center, meeting spaces, a café, and exhibition areas. Construction is expected to begin in 2026, with the tender process and design work planned for 2025. The project aims to enhance the Parnell Cultural Quarter, which has been under development since 2013. Funding includes nearly €57 million from the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund. Dublin City Council has already spent about €2.5 million on preliminary work. Completion of the library is estimated for 2027.
