Police in Melbourne are searching for a driver who left the scene after hitting a nine-year-old boy. The incident occurred on Parkwood Drive in Point Cook on March 11 around 6:15 PM. Footage released by the police shows the grey SUV briefly stopping after the collision before driving away. Officials reported that the boy suffered only minor injuries, which they described as "miraculous." However, they noted that he is quite shaken up from the event. A schoolmate who witnessed the accident shared that it was frightening to see. The boy tried to tell the car to stop as it approached, but it sped away. The boy's mother expressed understanding for the accident but emphasized that the driver should have stopped to help. Police Sergeant Matt Ryan remarked that a reasonable person would have remained at the scene. They hope that someone who sees the footage will recognize the SUV, which resembles a Mazda CX3. The investigation is ongoing. Police urge any witnesses or anyone with related footage to contact Crime Stoppers.
