A major new development is coming to Saginaw Street in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Developer Chuck SeKrenes is leading a $23 million project called LaPiazza. This mixed-use development will include residential, retail, and dining spaces. The project will feature a modern, three-story building and will take up nearly three acres between Reid and Center roads. LaPiazza will replace several existing businesses, but two local favorites will remain. The Crossbow Inn and Ziggy’s Ice Cream will be part of the new complex. Ziggy’s will triple its size and become an indoor ice cream parlor that operates year-round. The Crossbow Inn plans to attract more customers in its new location as well. SeKrenes described LaPiazza as an “eat, live, play” environment. The upper floors will have office spaces and 20 apartments, designed to draw more residents to the city center. A rooftop patio will offer outdoor dining and a recreational area for apartment tenants. SeKrenes hopes to create a vibrant hub that combines living, working, and socializing. The city has already given site plan approval. Groundbreaking is tentatively scheduled for September, with a grand opening expected in March 2027. Before starting construction, SeKrenes plans to collaborate with state housing and economic development officials to find financial support for the project. If everything goes well, LaPiazza could greatly enhance Grand Blanc’s development landscape.
