DOJ to review Interpol's Duterte arrest request
The Philippine Department of Justice stated that any request from Interpol to enforce an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for former President Rodrigo Duterte will be reviewed by the National Central Bureau in Manila. This process ensures that all documents are complete and valid. The Philippine government has previously refused to cooperate with the ICC's investigation into alleged extrajudicial killings during Duterte's presidency. However, officials acknowledged that they cannot prevent Interpol from acting if requested by the ICC. Duterte recently attended a rally in Hong Kong, and officials do not believe he will flee the country. The Philippine National Police is prepared to respond to any Interpol request, but they denied reports of a large police deployment for Duterte's potential arrest.
