DOJ seeks court to force Google to sell Chrome
The U.S. Department of Justice is pushing for a court to require Google to sell its Chrome browser to enhance competition in online search. This follows a ruling that found Google has an illegal monopoly. The DOJ's updated proposal maintains many suggestions from the previous administration, presenting challenges for Google. The company plans to appeal the antitrust ruling and has proposed changes to its business contracts. In addition to the Chrome divestiture, the DOJ wants Google to show a "choice screen" for search engines on its browser. The government has dropped some earlier demands, such as selling off Google's AI investments. Court arguments are set for April.
