Dog-walking business uses school bus for daily transport
A woman in Wisconsin has started a unique doggie daycare service using a school bus to transport dogs. Hope Mehlberg, who previously worked for the government, began this venture after walking her own dogs to relieve post-work stress. Her two dogs, Dodge and Teddy, sparked this idea, and soon after, she began including her in-laws' dogs. Mehlberg's dog care service grew after she helped a hurt dog named Zeppelin. His owner asked if Zeppelin could join Mehlberg’s daily walks. Realizing many pet owners needed help, Mehlberg turned her afternoon dog walks into a part-time business. To accommodate more dogs, she bought a utility van, which eventually led her to purchase a bus. In May 2023, Mehlberg became full-time with her new business, K9 Konvoy, and now transports 22 to 26 dogs daily. She picks them up from their homes and takes them to her family-owned park, where the dogs can play and socialize. The park has been set up with toys and activities for the dogs, and Mehlberg believes in letting them enjoy themselves. Mehlberg runs the business herself, managing everything from transport to social media. She enjoys every moment of it, saying spending days with dogs is the best job she could have.
